    August Update #2

And here we are – back again already with round 2 of the August update ! With the heat of last summer gone and the cool days of winter still in the air – it was time to get the big veggie beds back into service. Last summer was so incredibly hot and dry, that there came a point when we decided

  • Bye 2018!

    bye 2018

And here we are already, saying “Bye 2018“… It’s thoroughly ridiculous, it feels like this year was only a few months long!! Alas – if you’re waiting to see some snappy photos of our internal wall lining, we’re sorry but you’ll have to wait a bit longer! The panel did finally arrive at the hardware store, but we decided to leave it stored there – just in case the cyclone did damage to our little home – because at least if it got damaged at the hardware store, their insurance would cover it rather than ours. Not toooo silly eh..!?!?! The cyclone ended up being a bit of a non-event…

  • Hot & Sweaty

… Sure enough – the heat has come in, and the Farm is getting drier by the minute… And yep – we’re alllll hot & sweaty!! We know that there should be a decent bit of rain on our horizon in the near future, which will bring our little piece of Paradise back to life in no time at all – but

  • October already!

    October Already

. We’ve had a bit of rain this week! We awoke in the early hours of Saturday morning to the very distant rolls of thunder, and after dozing for a while, the lightning and rain followed, and a lovely unexpected summer storm passed through. On waking on Saturday morning,

  • September Silliness

    September Silliness

… It’s time for an update – so here’s a bit of the goings-on during the September silliness season! It’s getting very dry around the Farm, with not really having had any decent rain of any consequence since about March. We’re sooooo much luckier than the poor drought-ridden southern Farms are though, in that we don’t have stock and mass croppings to try and keep going. Its such a tragedy to see… Yep – its dry here, and the lawn is going brown bit by bit, but we not only have water available, but we are super-careful with the water that we do use, even though its easily available to…

  • Movin’ On

    movin on

So its finally DONE! We’re finally movin’ on! Nooooo – dont panic – we arent going anywhere – we’re just finally going to be able to slowly pick up threads of our Life again. The house in town has been SOLD, and the new folks (Paul & Rhianna) have begun making their stamp on our lovely little ex-home. It’s going to take them a decent amount of elbow grease, as the poor ole lady has suffered somewhat with the neglect its sustained with not having anyone full-time within her walls for the last year, and you could feel it in those last few weeks, that she’d given up a bit…so…

  • Not feelin’ the ‘love’!

. There hasn’t been much ‘accomplished’ in the last couple of weeks. Firstly we had about 10 days of much needed rain, which of course made the paddocks super-sloppy, and meant that no mowing could be done during that time, so the grass almost got away from us again – but we managed to get it mown in fits and spurts during a couple of dryish days, when the storms didn’t come in until the afternoon. After the rains, came the insane heatwave that most of Eastern Aus has been experiencing – and with the energy-sapping heat – it meant that just making it through the routine mundane chores that…

  • Helens Story Pt1

. EDITORS NOTE: Our Sister Helen, and four more of our Family (Joe, Brodie and their babies) recently survived a severe tropic storm, that was then followed by the hell that was Hurricane Irma – which was then quickly followed by 2 more Hurricanes, Jose and Maria. This is Part 1 of her story… 6 January 2018 To family, friends, & peeps who have watched out for me and helped me out: Hiya folks It’s 4 months to the day since Irma gave us a bit of a lashing and sent us scurrying for shelter, then on to other climes. The story has been long, starting of course a month…
